Day 155 & 156 November 22 - 23, 2022

Day 155 Tuesday, November 22, 2022

Point South Marina

We have settled in here at the marina in Panama City. The docks are beautiful, staff friendly and everything convenient since we have a car.

   Boater getting into the season!

Our plan is to stick around while we watch the weather for a suitable day to cross the Gulf.  We need to stage our boats in a location where we will be ready to take off when the weather is right.  There has been lots of discussion among the boaters (our group and newcomers) when that weather window will be.  Our plan is to leave from Carrabelle to cross to Clearwater Florida.  We need to plan 2 days travel from here to Carrabelle.  Current crossing prediction is  favorable for Monday into Tuesday from Apalachicola.  Apalachicola is only 1 days travel from Point South Marina.

Boat chores - I defrosted the refrigerator and then everyone off to mini putt!  Arlene and Al were the big winners.  It was a lot of fun.

Dinner was at Los Antojitos Mexican.  VERY good.  Homemade guac and queso with  margaritas and authentic entrees.

Delicious homemade apple pie on Arion topped off our day with Tug Bussle, Phil-N-Wild and The Grand Wazoo.

Day 156 Wednesday, November 23, 2022

10am Captains meeting to discuss our crossing.  The weather has changed and our weather window has moved.  Looks like we need to stage our boats for a potential crossing on Friday to Saturday. This means that we need to leave for Apalachicola tomorrow!  It also means no Thanksgiving dinner, football or parades.....  sadness.

Thanksgiving reservations cancelled, we decided to make the most of the rental and headed to the beach.  Shell Island State Park has beaches, camping and hiking trails.  The sand is white and full of shells.  Lots of families were enjoying the sunshine and the return to good weather.

We lunched at Patches Pub and Grill and hit Publix for last minute provisions.   Docktails and laundry to ready for our departure the next day.  Maybe we'll find a restaurant tomorrow for turkey......
