Day 175 - 182 December 12 - 19, 2022

 Day 175, Monday December 12, 2022

We started the week with a reunion of sorts.  Mary and Joe from Funintended have arrived in Clearwater and we were able to share docktails with them and 30 plus other loopers!  We first met Mary and Joe in Sackett's Harbor, NY back in July.  From there we traveled with them across Lake Ontario to Confederation Bay, Kingston Ontario, Canada and then to the Trent Port Marina in Trenton, Ontario.  We have "stalked" them on Nebo, following their progress along the Loop as each of our paths differed along the same ultimate route.

From docktails we headed to Frenchy's (again), this time to enjoy their Monday night special of $5 hamburgers and $1 beers.  Disappointment, the burgers are now $5.75 and beers $2.50!!  Still a good deal and the company was priceless.

Day 176, Tuesday

Today we spent the afternoon with Danny and Susan at the beach and then ate out (of course).  This time it was at Marina Cantina on their roof patio.  It was a bit chilly even with the patio heaters.  The margarita was just as good this time as well as the food.  We warmed up back at our boat with apple crisp and a fun card game of 7's.

Day 177, Wednesday

Susan and Danny fly home to Oklahoma for the holidays with family.  We went to the beach. It is still pretty chilly.

Day 178, Thursday

Today there was a terrific storm.  Lots of heavy rain and wind with thunder and lightening.  There was even a tornado warning with a touchdown and damage in St. Petersburg.  We stayed safe and cozy inside the boat while we marveled at Mother Nature.  I am very glad that we were tied to a dock and not anchored in the bay!  I passed the time working on some projects for Christmas.

Day 179, Friday

Guess what?  Frenchy's Saltwater Cafe again, this time with Sharon and Grant from Call Me Curly and Ellen and Joe from LaVida.  Good, cheap food. Do we really need to buy groceries???

Day 180, Saturday

Time for some boat maintenance.  I cleaned and Jerry changed the oil,  It had 316 engine hours since the last oil change.  The marina will take the oil and filters.  After our chores were done we rode our bikes 5 miles to Culvers.  Susan and Danny had raved about their ice cream.  We enjoyed dinner too, trying out their famous "butterburgers" (hamburgers) and cement mixers -- like a blizzard.  Both were quite good.  We made it back just as it started to rain.

Day 181, Sunday

worth repeating!

Church at St. Brendan's and then we met Karen and Rick at the Island Way Grill for their awesome brunch.  We had talked about it so much that they HAD to try it too.  We couldn't say no to a second visit. The restaurant was packed with lots of holiday and birthday celebrations.    Just as delicious this time too.  There was FIFA soccer fans too, with several outbursts of excitement over the France vs Argentina game.

Day 182, Monday December 19, 2022

This is the day we have been waiting for..... flying home to family for the holidays.  Ellen and Joe have graciously offered to bring us to the airport.  Direct flight from Clearwater/St. Pete airport to Plattsburgh.  Three hours and we are home.  We had a nice reunion with Courtney and Eric at the airport.  Snow and  only 35 degrees colder.  Hard to believe it was that cold in Clearwater.  Next, introduction to the new grandpuppy, Lucie.  What a cutie!!

Sorry for the lack of photos -- a lot of the same, with beach and restaurants, how boring, right??
