Day 331 - 336 May 17 - 22, 2023

Day 331 Wednesday, May 17, 2023

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

It was great to see our friends yesterday.  They had work and responsibilities today so we concentrated on boat chores.  Jerry cooked eggs for breakfast then time for us to get to work.  Jerry upgraded Navionics and did some minor boat repairs.  He also arranged for a diver to come and scrape the boat bottom.  I blogged; it is so easy to get behind.  As I type this it is actually June 4th.  Sorry.  I can't blame this on internet access -- I have just been tired out from all of the fun we've been having!

Day 332 Thursday, May 18, 2023

Diver was expected around 9am so we made plans to spend the day with Janine and Doug.  Jerry managed an oil change while we waited!  The diver hadn't shown by 1 pm so we gave up waiting.  Doug and Janine arrived and shortly after, so did the diver!  He was fine with us leaving so we went on a road trip before dinner.   Total Wine, here we come!!  Amazing store with every kind of wine imaginable.  Wines are on one side, then liquors on the other.  Time to stock up both!  Back to the boat we stowed our treasure then headed to dinner.

Rachel and Chase (a family friend) joined us for dinner.  Dinner at Crave Italian was delicious! We had a fried burrata appetizer.  I had the baked rigatoni  with meatballs (so tender) and Jerry had Nona's lasagna. Of course, you always have leftovers when you eat Italian.

From dinner we visited their home and Finn.  They have a really nice house and  yard.  They have done so much to it since moving in; the house is so cute. They are in the process of getting a 4 season room addition.  They are really going to enjoy that.  Janine loaned us her car -- so generous; we'll be back again tomorrow!

Please play with me.....

Day 333 Friday, May 19, 2023

Another day of chores at the boat.  We were invited for dinner and our contribution was Blue Lagoon Margaritas.  Janine's high school friend Renetta from New Hampshire flew in and will be visiting for a few days.  They are such great hosts, opening their home to all of us.  BBQ was great and too many margaritas, we Ubered back to the boat.

Day 334 Saturday, May 20, 2023

Beach Day.

Dinner at Joe's Bar and Grill was excellent.  It is another one of their favorites and filled with wildlife.

Crazy Sister Marina

 Harborwalk

This time we drove Doug's car back to the boat.

Day 335 Sunday, May 21, 2023

We went to mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.  In Key West we attended St. Mary Star of the Sea.  Another nice church with a friendly congregation.  They have a grade school and high school just like in Key West.

After church we treated ourselves to Sunday breakfast at Sunny Side Up Grill.  It was motorcycle week in Myrtle Beach and the bikers had found the restaurant and breakfast buffet.  From breakfast to the grocery store.  It's always best best to go on a full stomach.

Doug treated us all to a tour of Myrtle Beach.  We visited the boardwalk, the beaches and several of the parks.  There is a lot to see and do in the area.

Sneaking up to steal some fish

Bride and wedding party taking pictures in the park.

Yes, that's an alligator!  Lots of parks where you can hike, bike ride, picnic, beach and enjoy the wild life.

Dinner and lots of visiting at their home then back to the boat with their car.  Renetta and her husband plan to do the Loop next year so we had a lot to talk about.

Day 336 Monday, May 22, 2023

Last day in Myrtle Beach.  The diver discovered that we needed to replace some of our zincs.  Not actually made of zinc, the anodes are aluminum since we are primarily a fresh water boat.  The diver didn't have any luck finding aluminum so we will order and have them replaced in the near future.  Since we were no longer waiting on the diver we headed to Janine and Doug's.  Renetta's sister Kim is visiting too.  We had a great afternoon and dinner of steaks, grouper, salads and veggies.  Key Lime pie for dessert.

Our visit to Myrtle Beach and our good friends was topped off enjoying a campfire in their back yard.  We miss them but are so happy for the home they've made in North Carolina.

Janine and Doug, thank you so much for your hospitality!  We had so much fun and are really glad that we were able to stop and see you.
