Day 21 Sunday, July 10, 2022

Up early in preparation for our lake crossing to Confederation Bay Marina in Kingston, ON.   We headed to the fuel dock at 6:20 am so that we would be ready to go at 7am.  Six credit card transactions later (fuel pump stopped at $75 dollars per transaction) we were ready to go.  $6.69/gal, 57.16 gallons.  Looks like we're using around 3 gallons per hour travel time.

That done we pow wowed with our buddy boats and off we went.  FunIntended (Joe and Mary) have a 43ft Silverton like our friends had, The Peter Principal.  Phase II (Bill and Nita) is a 1980's 43ft Mainship.  All traveling at our 7 knot speed so no worries.

We anticipated that waves would be building, learning not to put our complete trust in the lake weather forecast. We had favorable seas.  Sunny skies made for a generally comfortable 5 hour crossing.  We even had a chance to have a phone call with Eric and Courtney.  Life is good.

We met the Federal Alistar again.

Windsurfers were enjoying the day!

Of course the wind picked up when we reached the marina, just in time to dock.  The docks are well protected by 3 huge boulder breakwaters but the wind still pushed the boat around making docking interesting.  Three dock hands were ready and waiting for us.  Jerry handled it like a pro.

First job - check in with Customs.  We had already filled out necessary paperwork via Arrive Can.  After a 30minute wait on hold we answered the usual questions -- any firearms, cannabis, alcohol?  No, no, and ships store.  Ships store means for personal consumption.  Not all officers will accept that answer and will require you to provide types and amounts of alcohol on board.  If you are over what is allowed you must pay taxes on it.  No problems; no visit from customs.

Martellos were  built for defense - 8ft thick walls

Next job - register with marina.  Problem -- only have us down for one night.  Okay, they have room for us but we'll have to move to another slip tomorrow.  Oh well, at least we have a place to stay.

Next - explore and have some fun.  Buskers Festival in town on the streets by the marina.  Acrobats and entertainers.  Spoiled our dinner with White Mountain Ice Cream.  Enjoyed the performances and ate dinner at Dianne's Fish Shack.  Quite yummy.
