Day 52 Thursday August 11, 2022
Gore Bay to GORE BAY
Still rocky even with great breakwater |
Plan today was changed due to WIND and more wind. Can't complain about our location though. We woke during the night to slapping of water on the hull. That can be relaxing but it also gets your mind thinking about the wind potential for the following day. Out on the couch at 5:30 am Jerry was checking the weather and trying to catch some shut eye. Our plan was to leave for Blind River at 8am but a Captains' meeting and observation of the bay concluded that we were staying put for the day. Prediction was for increased winds and it was already nasty.
The day remained sunny and breezy but the wind actually calmed some and the waves tamed. We walked to town to see what there was to offer. Jerry was listening to the music in one of the stores when he realized that he could guess what the next song would be, and the next. Someone in Canada was enjoying one of his Spotify music playlists!! He does have over 3000 followers.
Pervis Fisheries boat delivering its catch
We shared happy hour with Janet, Russ, Laura and Joe at Split Rail Brewery one more time. Tomorrow Tug Bussle heads north to Sault St. Marie while The Grand Wazoo and Eric's Inheritance head west to Meldrum Bay.
Dinner on the boat and canceled previous reservations to Blind River. Blind River would have meant that we crossed the North Channel of Lake Huron and then would have to travel back across it to get to our western destinations, subjecting us to the wind gods over and back, 27 miles each way. New course plotted to Meldrum Bay, 32 miles in the right direction.
Off to bed with hopes for good weather and fair seas tomorrow.
