Mackinaw City to Petoskey MI
DAY 60!! So hard to believe that we've been traveling for 2 months already. Lots of fun, lots of challenges, lots to learn.
Today we traveled to Petoskey. Tug Bussle, The Grand Wazoo and Eric's Inheritance set off at 7am to waves of 1 foot that eventually turned to rain and 3 foot waves with LOTS of rocking. Not a very comfortable ride but finally calmed. Tug Bussle turned off towards Beaver Island while we continued to Petoskey City Marina.
Petoskey Marina was a great stop. Petoskey is a quaint town with a beautiful city park and a vibrant downtown "social district". Restaurants and bars within the social district allow patrons to bring alcoholic beverages outside. No fear of open container. The marina area is also in a park with nice wide docks and loaner bicycles. Several looper boats were in residence.
We explored the town with Joe and Laura and enjoyed homemade pretzels and a beer at Tap 30. Dinner later with them at Thai Orchid. It was a 6.5 hour travel day and everyone was ready to call it a day.
Day 61 Saturday August 20, 2022
More exploring Petoskey. Jerry hiked to West Marine while I did laundry and then back to town to check out the sights. Petoskey is celebrating the end of summer! That just can't be....we've only just begun. Celebrations included bands set up throughout the city, movies in the park, and a roving band traveling the sidewalks entertaining.
St Francis Xavier church and then a hike to Scooby's liquor store for reprovisioning (LOL).
We had a great dinner at City Park Grill with Mobile Home, The Grand Wazoo and Phil-N-Wild and ended the evening with conversation sitting on the docks. We leave for Charlevoix in the morning.
